The University Institute of Environmental Studies and Natural Resources (IUNAT) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, once controlled and extinguished the unfortunate fire that occurred in the area of ​​Tejeda (Gran Canaria), in the first place, regrets the death of the Mrs. Ostman and we express our condolences to her family.

We also want to join the congratulations to all those people, fire departments, police, civil guards, red cross and institutions that have made possible the rapid control and extinction of the fire, with a great collaboration and coordination between the institutions involved.

Fires are sometimes events that regenerate new lives, born with more vigor and optimistic renewal. Hopefully this is the case and we can see very soon the regeneration of the communities and populations that grew in the affected area.

From the IUNAT we are at the disposal of the Department of Environment and emergencies of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Department of Sustainability and Security of the Canary Islands Government, as well as the affected municipalities, to collaborate and contribute to all those work that will be carried out in the damaged area, making available our knowledge, our facilities and our staff, if required
